Referendum only:
If you are not a registered voter in Willington you may still be eligible to vote in a referendum if : You are a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age and pay taxes to the town on property assessed at $1,000 or more which appeared on the last-completed Grand List.
Voting takes place in the large meeting room (Common Room) on the upper level at the Willington Town Office Building, 40 Old Farms Road. The Optical Scan voting system is used in all Connecticut towns, and if anyone wishes more information on this voting system please call the registrars. Also a special phone/fax system is provided for visually impaired voters, or any voter who chooses to use this method.

How do I register to vote?
You must be a U.S. citizen; a resident of Willington; and be at least 18 years old, by the date of the election, in order to register (17 year olds may pre-register if they will turn 18 before election day). In order to vote in a primary you must be enrolled with that party.

Once the Registrar has processed your application, you will receive a letter of acceptance or rejection within approximately 7-10 days.

How do I get on the ballot for public office?
The easiest way to run for a public office is to be nominated by one of the three local political parties. You may also run “undesignated” by filling out specific paperwork and acquiring a specified number of endorsements from registered voters. See the town clerk for more details.
What are the common elections in Willington?
Municipal, State and Federal Elections are held each year on the first Tuesday following the first Monday during the month of November. The Annual Budget Referendum to vote on the budget proposed for the following fiscal year is held on the first Tuesday following the first Monday in May.
